Meet the MiAlgae Changemakers! 🤝

Jayde Roberts – QC Lab Supervisor

Our QC Lab Supervisor, Jayde Roberts tells us a little bit about her role, her cool hobbies and her appearances at the O2 and Royal Albert Hall!

What do you love about working at MiAlgae?

It was clear from the get-go that everyone is working towards the same goals and is very passionate about making MiAlgae’s Omega-3 dreams come true. The work environment is very supportive and allows individuals to express themselves without fear of judgment. MiAlgae is also very passionate about personal development, which is amazing for anyone who wants to grow and develop in their career. It’s exciting to be a part of such a dynamic and focused team. No two days are the same and the opportunity to learn is fantastic.

What does a typical day look like for you?

As the QC Lab Supervisor my day-to-day activities can vary a lot. Currently I am working on setting up our shiny new QC lab, implementing new quality measures and progressing new methods and trials into action. Most days I can be found at the desk, but I often hop in to help process samples or tests when things get busy!

What excites you most about the future of MiAlgae?

I have already seen many improvements and faces added to the team which bodes well for such a fast-paced biotech company. Improving sustainability and environmental impact is something I have always been very keen to work towards and as MiAlgae works hand in hand with distilleries to produce beneficial omega-3 products from by-products, I can’t wait to see what else we can do.

What keeps you busy away from the desk?

As a self-proclaimed introvert, I do a surprising amount of social events- I love to attend gigs, festivals and raves; anything with an overwhelming amount of noise! I also love being out in the countryside where you can find me foraging, hiking or collecting bones and cool looking rocks. On the quieter days I love to game in my Oodie and snuggle with my cat Noot.

Fun fact about you

I’ve been attending pole and aerial classes for 6 years now and regularly perform in shows and competitions; so you might see me around! I also love Halloween, play the flute and have performed at the O2 and Royal Albert Hall.
